While the fight is not finalised, it appears as though a potential boxing bout between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor is edging ever closer to fruition. And in doing so the Dublin native will likely become the highest paid sports star in the countries history.
On a recent interview with Colin Cowherd, UFC president Dana White intimated that he believes the fight will happen, and his biggest drawing star will likely earn a cool $75 million. McGregor's highest reported purse to date is $3.5 million, earned in his history making win at Madison Square Garden in November. There is a massive leap from 3.5 to 75 million but Mystic Mac had predicted this, like so many other aspects of his already storied career.
Rory McIlroy currently stands as the top earning sports star in Ireland, as the World #2 ranked golfer has a net worth of $42.5 million, according to Forbes. If this is correct, McGregor stands to blitz the Northern Irish golfers career earnings in one night. McIlroy does earn mega bucks being sponsored by Nike and other major sponsors but even he would love a payday, similar to the proposed one McGregor has in front of him.

The fight itself which has been discussed at nauseum, is being deemed as more of a spectacle than a sporting endeavour, but who could blame the ‘Notorious' for taking a once in a lifetime payday.
