“I think Pitbull is the most beatable champion in any major organisation”

We caught up with Brian ‘The Pikeman' Moore (10-5) of SBGi this week, and he has had enough of quietly going about his business. The Irish featherweight is sick of being overlooked as a contender. When asked about rankings Moore seemed to be irked by recent movements.

“I don't focus on rankings. They're calculated by 25 year old virgins still living with their mother. What do they know about fighting? The closest these guys have been to combat is playing World of Warcraft. I'm ranked 200th but I know I'd beat all those ranked higher. Yes they sleep on me but all I ever ask is the opportunity to show this.”

Moore is coming off an impressive stoppage of Michal Horejsi at Bellator 177. The Wexford native rebounded well, after suffering a short notice first round submission loss to featherweight title contender Daniel Weichel, at Bellator 169. Moore was determined to put his debut loss behind him and feels that he has the beating of the German veteran, should he be awarded a re-match.

Check out the stunning elbow-knee combination that lead to the finish of Horejsi below:

Although Moore is 1-1 with the promotion, the SBG product feels he is among the elite of the division, and sees himself as one of the people to watch in 2017. “The last guy I fought should have never been allowed to step in there with me. I want a top 10 guy. Give me Strauss, Georgi or McKee. Give me Daniel again – give me any of them. I'll find a way to beat them all.”

Clearly not lacking in confidence, ‘The Pikeman' outlined how he has asked to fight undefeated prospect AJ McKee several times, and believes that he would “expose him”. McKee is slated to fight at Bellator 182 in upstate New York, and his opponent has yet to be determined. Moore also noted that there is two other featherweight fights slated for that card, including Georgi Karakhanyan vs Daniel Pineda. He was adamant, should one of those guys fail to make the walk, that he would be ready.

Moore recently took to twitter, in the midst of a war of words between his team SBGi and Team Body Shop, where AJ McKee and Anthony Taylor fight out of.

When asked about Anthony Taylor as a potential opponent, ‘The Pikeman' laughed. “He's the face of their team. The guy is an embarrassment. There isn't a commission in the world that would allow that fight. The last two prospects to fight him were kind enough to choke him out, but I would hurt him – bad! I'm ruthless in there.”

Not happy with just singling out Team Body Shop members, Moore also took a dig at the reigning Bellator featherweight champion and the rest of the top 10, claiming “I think Pitbull is the most beatable champion in any major organisation. He's a great fighter but he's wild. But at least he brings it. There is a difference between fighters and athletes but most of the top 10 guys are the latter, happy to eek out a decision. When they meet, they are boring 15 minute affairs. I hate decisions.” Clearly fired up to get back into the cage, we look forward to ‘The Pikeman' returning very soon.
